In the City of the Dead, Opes are usually drug-addicted people with sharp bones and rotting teeth. They suffer from poverty and will go through blistering heat, falling rain, and snow just to get drugs. Hawk described one that she saw as with sticklike fingers, dirty hair, and a filthy T-shirt full of holes.
