The First Fax[]
In this book, he calls Max to tell her about a fax that came into the CSM office; it confirms that Dr. Martinez didn't just disappear into thin air while at the airport—she was kidnapped.
- The origination number of the fax got cut off during transmission, so who sent it is unconfirmed; it also says that Valencia "will be held until the CSM quits its efforts to put pressure on big businesses." This causes Max to first suspect that Mr. Chu was associated with the kidnapping.
The Second Fax[]
John also tells Max of a second fax; this one shows Dr. Martinez being held hostage on what is assumed to be a boat.
After this, he says he has to go talk to the FBI, and hangs up shortly.
